A rating - superior achievement (decorative image)

The Texas Education Agency released preliminary 2023-2024 School Financial Rating System of Texas (FIRST) ratings in September and Azle ISD has earned an "A" rating for "Superior Achievement."

The "Superior Achievement" rating is the state's highest, demonstrating the quality of Azle ISD's financial management and reporting system.

FIRST ratings are based on an analysis of school district financial data for fiscal year 2023 and the financial indicators specified in 19 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §109.1001, Financial Accountability Ratings.

School FIRST (Financial Accountability Rating System of Texas) is a financial accountability system for Texas school districts developed by the Texas Education Agency. The primary goal of School FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts’ financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with Texas’ school finance system.

The Texas Education Agency assigns one of four financial accountability ratings to Texas school districts, with the highest being “A” for “Superior Achievement,” followed by “B” for “Above-Standard Achievement,” “C” for “Standard Achievement” and “F” for “Substandard Achievement.” Ratings include the financial indicators specified in 19 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §109.1001, Financial Accountability Ratings.

We are extremely proud of our Azle ISD finance department for continuing to be good stewards of our financial resources and for once again earning this superior rating.

Final 2023-2024 School FIRST ratings are anticipated to be released by TEA in November 2024.
