Azle High School's FFA chapter has been awarded a Yearlong Living to Serve Grant for $3,000 from the National FFA Organization. Only three schools in Texas were selected to receive the grant.
The nationwide program provides grant money to local FFA chapters to support yearlong service-learning projects that address needs related to community safety; environmental responsibility; hunger, health and nutrition; and community engagement.
Azle FFA is helping to address the critical need for food security among students within our community and addresses it through a comprehensive service and educational outreach program. Backpacks filled with nutritious food are sent home weekly with students in need. School counselors screen and identify students in need and inform the local food bank, Azle’s Community Caring Center, of the required number of backpacks weekly.
The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Integrating a community service project into an agriculture classroom can provide students with practical, hands-on experience while reinforcing key concepts in agricultural education.
The National FFA Foundation builds partnerships with industry, education, government, other foundations, and individuals to secure financial resources that recognize FFA member achievements, develop student leaders, and support the future of agricultural education. The program provided over $176,590 to FFA chapters in 29 states. The 2024-2025 FFA Yearlong Living to Serve Grants are sponsored by Cargill and Tractor Supply Company.
