Azle ISD is pleased to announce David Wright as the new part-time Director of Fine Arts.
Wright brings a wealth of experience and a passion for arts education to this role. He has served as Assistant Director of Fine Arts for the past 10 years in Keller ISD. In this capacity, he spearheaded professional development initiatives, supported teachers in music, visual art, theatre, and dance departments, and orchestrated district-wide events that fostered community involvement and student engagement. Prior to his role as fine arts director, Wright served as an Assistant Principal in Keller ISD.
His background in music education is extensive. For nine years, he led the bands at Randall High School in Canyon ISD to consistent "Sweepstakes" awards and UIL Area and State Marching Band contests. Earlier in his career, he established a similar track record of success at Crockett Middle School in Amarillo ISD, where his bands consistently reached finals of the prestigious TMEA Honor Band competition.
He received his Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Master's degree in Music, and Principal Certification from West Texas A&M University. He has been married to his wife, Katharine, for 24 years, and they have two sons, Davis (22) and Conner (20). In his free time, Mr. Wright enjoys marathon training, listening to podcasts, and watching Texas Rangers Baseball.
"Working in neighboring Keller ISD, I've been consistently impressed by Azle's thriving fine arts programs,” said Wright. “I'm thrilled to join these amazing teachers and students, collaborating to reach even greater heights."
“Azle ISD is confident that Mr. Wright's leadership, experience, and passion for the arts will be instrumental in further developing our strong fine arts programs and providing our students with exceptional learning opportunities.”
