Azle ISD is pleased to announce Tosha Carroll as director of the Azle ISD Employee Childcare Center – the Azle Early Learning Center.
Carroll has worked in public education for six years, providing safe spaces, academic intervention, and enrichment for grades K-6 in the after-school setting. She has served as program manager for the district’s grant-funded after-school program, Hornet DEPOT, for the last two years. She also has experience as a foster care case manager, working with children of all ages.
Carroll earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Her first experience working with youth came through a college internship with the Chickasaw Nation, where she worked as a tutor and academic advisor for the Chickasaw Children’s Village.
She and her husband Matt live in Springtown and have a six-year-old daughter, Easton. Matt is retired from the US Army, where he served as a military police officer/K-9 handler.
“I have loved working with the students and families in Azle for the past two years,” said Carroll. “The culture in this district is one to be cherished! I am excited and looking forward to serving the staff and their “littles” as the director of the employee childcare center.”
The Azle Early Learning Center (AELC) opened in January of 1999 under the vision and direction of Azle High School home economics teacher (now Career and Technical Education Director) Dr. Suzanne Murr, Cross Timbers Elementary principal Dee Gilley, and a group of committed parents passionate about opening a daycare for Azle ISD employees. Over the years, the AELC served employee childcare in various classrooms across the district before becoming centralized at the administration building in the fall of 2019.
Effective for the 2024-2025 school year, the Azle Early Learning Center will be operated by Azle ISD. Previously, the AELC was its own non-profit organization, overseen by a governing board. The end goal of the organization has always been to truly be under Azle ISD.
Our strong partnership with the AELC has been a tremendous benefit and blessing to Azle ISD employees and their young children for the past 25 years. Azle ISD is thankful for this devoted group of organizers’ dedication and vision and looks forward to continuing to provide quality childcare to Azle ISD employees.
