Azle ISD is excited to announce Leyah Miles as the new principal of Liberty Elementary School. She replaces Lisa Koehler who is moving to a new role in the district next year.
Miles comes to Azle ISD from Keller ISD, where she has served as assistant principal at Park Glen Elementary for the past five years.
She has worked in public education for 12 years and taught reading, language arts, and social studies in Mansfield ISD before becoming an administrator. She also served on curriculum writing teams for Reading Language Arts in Mansfield ISD and Keller ISD.
Miles received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from The University of North Texas and her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. She and her husband Justin have two daughters - Finley (9) and Eastyn (7).
"The students, educators, and families of Park Glen Elementary have profoundly influenced my journey as an educator and leader, and I will always cherish my time there,” said Miles. “Returning to Azle ISD, the place that I called home from kindergarten through 12th grade, is very exciting! I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the school that shaped my early education and lead alongside the educators at Liberty Elementary!"
“We proudly welcome Mrs. Miles back to her former elementary campus,” said Azle ISD superintendent Todd Smith. “She has a proven track record of fostering an environment of academic and social growth for students while maintaining a positive campus culture for students, staff, and families.”
