Azle ISD would like to welcome Amy Yelle as the new principal of Walnut Creek Elementary School. She replaces Dr. Garretson, who has served as principal since 2022.
Mrs. Yelle is returning to Walnut Creek from Hilltop Elementary, where she has served as an assistant principal for the past year.
She has been in public education for more than 19 years and has taught 7th and 8th grade English, various high school courses, and served as a K-12 counselor at three schools.
Yelle received her Bachelor of Arts in English Education and Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She and her husband David have two kids who attend school in Azle ISD – Elly (15) and Luke (12). David works in the Contracts Management department for Lockheed Martin.
“It is my absolute privilege to return to Walnut Creek Elementary,” said Yelle. “Helping open up Hilltop Elementary with such a strong, amazing team was a dream come true. I feel called to return to Walnut Creek to serve the staff, students, and family that I dearly love."
“We look forward to bringing Mrs. Yelle back to Walnut Creek Elementary,” said Azle ISD superintendent Todd Smith. “Her deep understanding of academic expectations, campus culture, and commitment to Azle ISD will continue to uphold the high standards of excellence of Walnut Creek Elementary.”
